This is the first knife I've used the African Black Ivory wood I got from Celia. I works and polishes up beautifully, just like the pink stuff.

This is one I started after the big Celtic dagger. It's a small 3" bladed garter dagger. The blade is 425 layer nickle damascus with a nickle-silver guard and spacer. The throat is lapis lazuli and the black ivory of course.

Anyone know what the little specks in lapis are? They're golden in color but, I don't know what mineral it would be or if it could vary. They look cool though.

Lapis Lazuli occurs in various shades of blue with some qualities being speckled with white calcite and some with yellow pyrite.

And definitely looks good. Not my favorite style/size/proportion of knife,b ut that's personal taste. You definitely did a good job of pulling that style off though. What's the inlay Tess has on the sheath there?

Very nice. I'm a sucker for a nice double-edge blade!

Oops! I forgot. The sheath is a magnetic blade only set-up with a lizard skin inlay. Thanks guys, I love doing daggers. I'm hoping to get a chance to do more of them this year.

J,

That one is a beauty, I especially like the way the pattern flows with the blade shape!
Of course Tess's work is superlative as alway!

We can see why, J.!Your work expresses it very well, indeed. You got another real show piece there.

That's a gorgeous little knife! Love the handle and also that damascus.

Have you ever done san mai? This knife would also look very cool with a san mai blade as well.

Good luck at Blade, I have a feeling you are going to do well.

Thanks guys. This is another one I made for Blade. I wanted to have at least one dagger...trying for variety here. Got bowies, drop points, neckers, a dagger, camp knife, plus my own models, claws, crook-backs, rough necks, etc. Man, this show is going to be a vacation!

Sean, I have done a few san mia knives and will be doing a couple more next month for orders. The next thing I'm planning on is replacing nickle with pure iron for contrast. That's the next planned experiment anyway.

Here's a san mia bowie I did recently.

Absolutely stunning J. That one's definitely more my style. The steel, copper, just everything wow. Thanks for sharing.

Aha! Yep that's also a great knife.

Man I wish I was going to this show!!! So many cool knives!!!! Oh well, I'm already on the waiting list for next year's blade show, hopefully I'll get a table and will get the oportunity to check this show out.

Nicely done J. you shouldn't have any trouble selling those at the show. What are you making your damascus with? did you build a press?

Good luck at the show,

Bill

Thanks guys.

Bill- Nope, still using the 25 lb little giant. I'm hoping to build a press after Blade though. I've been using 1084/L6 in my damascus mix but, I picked up some 15n20 from Kelly and I'm going to try that with the 1084 next. Are you going to be at the show Bill?

No J. I sure wish I could make it but not this year, have a good time for all us unable to be there.

Bill

I'll do my best Bill, though I'll probably just be stunned the first day or so. I'll hope to meet you some other time soon.

I like all of J.'s knives. If I am fortunate enough to get to one of the shows, I know I'm gonna stop at J.'s table. Nice work kid, you old guy type maker. My congratulations to both you folks for such fine work.
