Ah, to finally be able to talk traditional knives to someone in person. My wife listens, as do other people, but to be able to have a conversation with a fellow bladeforum member really does make a great day.

Jeff (Black Mamba) and his wife, two of the nicest people I have met in some time, picked up their newest family member today. They had decided to purchase one of our puppies a few weeks back and I have been looking forward to them coming. I knew knives would be talked about and shown. Plus, it is just cool to meet someone like Jeff that has been a veteran on the forum. I certainly learned a few things just in our short 2 hour visit.

Jeff and his wife really are two wonderful people and it was an honor to meet them. He surprised me with a knife that he handled himself. This thing is 8 1/2 inches of amazing 01 steel! It really does fit my hand perfectly and the burlap micarta is just awesome! It certainly is going to look great with a patina. The carved out butt section of the micarta just sinks it into my hand. Well done on this Jeff. Jeff also knew I had been on the hunt for a certain smooth white bone and hoped the slippy would hold me over. Ive been wanting to try this pattern and I am thankful, kinda blown away really, by the thought and the knives.

My daughter even loved having them over. When they arrived she thought Jeff was her grandfather, they do kinda look alike, and started saying her grandfather's name. My wife corrected her and told her that was Jeff and his wife. My daughter then went on to say, "Jeff, come home!" When they left she went on to say,"Wait! Stay friends!" She had it right, Jeff and his wife had become friends in that short time.

My wife was taking a new family photo of Jeff, his wife, and the pups, but I had to jump in and get one of Jeff and me. Hope Jeff doesn't mind I post this. :D He was probably asking himself, "Why is this guy getting in our family picture." :D

Jeff, thank you again for the knives good sir. I still don't what to say , but thank you. It really was an enjoyable visit and you're welcome back anytime.

That was fun to read.

Excellent to be able to meet another knife' militant' for a chat.:D Lot of skill in hafting that knife, Jeff is an outstanding contributor here:thumbup:

Thanks, Will

Nice post, Brett, and it was a wonderful visit. We just now got home, and naturally the first thing I did was boot up the computer and see what was happening on BFC. Brett and family are as nice as you all think from the forum, and the puppy has my wife in a complete state of bliss. We enjoyed an hour or so of knife chat, and Brett really has a nice, growing collection of pocket fixed blades, along with some beautiful folders, mainly GEC #73s and #48s. It's always great to make new friends, and our knife connection is just an added bonus. Brett, Laura and the girls are just great people!

I bought my first knife here on the forums from Black Mamba ( Starry Night Knife.) It is one of my favorite knives in my collection!

Jake, I only brought the ones in the red lined case, the others are Brett's. And at 60 years old (today, in fact) I look different than I imagined! :( ;)

Jeff and Brett, I think it's great members meeting each other (would love to attend the rendezvous someday) and love seeing this thread:cool:

A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEFF:thumbup:

Brett, thanks for sharing this story with us. Very cool!:cool:

Sounds like a fun visit. Did Jeff bring all the knives in those boxes?!!

:D

I agree with Jake that Jeff didn't match my mental image of Black Mamba, but I was thinking of this:

Similar haircuts, though!

Nice knives in both piles. It's fun to see them in the storage containers since there aren't many shows or swap meets anymore.

Ha ha! Happy Birthday, Jeff!!!!
