My seiko black monster is no longer keeping good time. Tried adjusting the regulation myself to no avail. Used the kello app. Cost as much to send to to the watch repair as buying a new one. So time for a new one.

Need help finding a Quartz diver, day/date, sapphire crystal, black face, polished stainless steel case and band.
I don't ask for much do I? :D

Yep, time to pick up another. How old was it? I've had my SRP307J1 for under a year and hardly wear it, but it does keep great time when I do work it into the rotation. It's one of those watches that never really 'fit' me proper, but is nice to look at so it spends most of its time in the watch display case.

The Orient brand divers are really nice AND reasonably priced. I wear an Orient Ray.

Check online for Seiko repair. There are plenty of highly respected watch repair people who do good reasonably priced work. The movement in the Monster should last decades.

I bought it second hand but have had it for 3years now. I think the problem started after taking it mountain biking.

Probably not a good idea with any mechanical watch. I'm a watch enthusiast and biking enthusiast, I won't try biking with any of my mechanical watches. I either don't wear a watch or I wear a digital.

But back to your watch- I had a Seiko years ago that stopped and could not be restarted. Seiko makes a lot of watches using the 7s26 movement so I bought one on ebay for about $30 and swapped the movement out myself. I actually swapped the movement, dial and hands as a unit so it no longer looked like an SKX173. Since then I've had other Seiko watches modified with custom dials and hands. There are people that will do the modifications for you, just swapping a movement is fairly easy and would cost you under $50. I had found a watch works in the north east that specialized in this kind of work. You should be able to find them with an internet search. Another option would be to sell your damaged watch on an online auction and then buy a new one. Some years back I owned both a black monster and an orange monster. I bought the orange one new for just over $100 and the black one used for just under $100. Just like with knives, knowing where to buy is important.

This is a photo of the one that I restored myself:

These are 2 SKX007 watches that I had modified by the watch works in the north east:

Just wanna say that they are all very, very cool looking, bdmicarta!

I had Seiko change out a "New" Orange monster(SRP311K1) at their Factory Service Center in New Jersey about two years ago, putting in full the orange face on the orange fade version, makes the watch look bigger, and they changed out the second hand as well, from orange to black....got this version because it is the only one with the orange numbers in the bezel. It cost around $100.00 for the work, and it does look much cooler imo. It's worth contacting them.

Good suggestions on repair, couldn't have done better. In Chicago, you could go to jeweler's row in the loop: the better watchmakers are on the upper floors of the older buildings.

For your quartz sapphire diver, I assume you want something in Monster's price range i.e. under $200. It is hard to find sapphire crystal watches under $200, but here is one on Valentine's Day sale for $150: Deep Blue Sea Quest Diver 1000m 42mm Quartz

Deep Blue is out of stock, looks like a discontinued model. I don't own and haven't handled one, but some people like their divers. Good lume if you trust the photographs. That 1000 M water resistance should be good for use in outer space, if you are contemplating a trip.

OP wanted quartz. I just noticed he wanted a steel bracelet too! Sea Quest has fat spring bars and they are really tight against the case. A Watchadoo bracelet might fit — then again it might not, and replacing the original strap sounds like a chore. I would leave it alone.

Chore is not quite the word I'd using for replacing straps.

Marathon TSAR and don't look back. I have no other watches as no other one would ever make it on my wrist.
