So I have a small collection of Case small toothpicks maybe 10 or 12 all still New in the boxes. Never look at them or take them out but I always felt knives were made to be used. Checking eBay I’m not seeing any go for below $25 and most in the $40 range so I am guessing if I sell them together I should clear $300 at a minimum to buy some Bucks. Now the dilemma I want a 212, a 102, and a small 117 which I should be able to do but I’m torn between silver/black and brass/cocobolo. I just ordered a silver/black 105 waiting on it to be delivered.

so my question for those of you who have, or have handled, both types which do you like better and why?

Eveled posted this on the other thread but this is the type of answer I was looking for. I was wondering if blass made the smaller knives heavier than aluminum for EDC

"in you post you mention the aluminum vs brass fittings. It’s not just the looks that are different. The weight and balance are different too.

A small knife with brass pommel is handle heavy. On a larger knife the brass pommel counterbalances the weight of the blade. But makes an already heavy knife heavier.

I prefer the aluminum in most cases"

I didn't notice the weight. The cocobolo is actually a processed wood product. I think the current one is dymondwood. The wood and brass looks really cool however. And yes , I have a 102 in cocobolo.
If you want to stretch your budget go with the black handle. Phenolic ? I believe .

Black phenolic is the budget priced handle, but practically is a very nice durable stable handle material.

if you want high end, Stag is the way to go. It’s been a premium handle material for 1000+ years.
