Am I in the minority for preferring satin clips? I just think they look better.

Of course I also prefer satin blades.

I prefer black clips because I mostly wear black pants. The only time I'd want a satin or shiny clip is if the knife is a custom gent (small dressy tac folder).

I like satin becasue I have had black that discolor my pants where they are.

I prefer black clips. If not black, subdued is my second choice. The only bright and shiny clip I like, also happens to be my favorite, the Lil' Temperance clip.

I prefer satin or polished blades, but black clips. I think an uncoated blade is less likely to upset people, but a black clip is lower-profile for carry.

I generally wear jeans so I voted for black since, IMO, it is less noticeable against the dark material. When wearing khakis, brushed is my preference for the same reason.

I voted satin. I think it looks better on most knives, plus you can sand the scratches out in a minute or two, and have it looking like new.

I prefer NO clip, since I carry my EDC (currently BM Griptilian drop-point for light carry at the office, or a large Timberline Wortac when I'm not at work) in my pocket. I stopped clipping my knives because the clips are pretty hard on the dress pants that I wear to work and eventually I just removed all my folder clips. And guess what? Every folder that I have ever owned has felt better in my hand without the clip, sometimes (like the Wortac) significantly better. Clip design must be an afterthought on most folders since the ergonomics of many knives really suffer when the clip is added.

While I agree with you regarding clips on some knives, such as the Wortac, IMO there are others like the steel Spyderco Police & Native where the clip is a definite aide in opening.

Normally I would vote for the black coated clips but all the black clips (and screws) of my folders have shiny spots and because I don’t like "two-colored" clips I prefer satin or brushed clips.

Satin!

Both types will start to show wear, but on black it's more easily visible. And I just like the looks better. The one non-satin blade I have is heat-blued which is "something else" -in both of its meanings. :)

I like the satin clips better, as I have smoothed the edges of the clips on my "carry folders", and if they were the black clips, they would all have a "silver edge" around them now.:).

Generally, satin finish, because they wear better. The black finish seems to wear off quite fast in most cases.
