Black oxide or stainless finish?

Hi friends, I'd like to order a new Swisstool Spirit "S" to replace my "old" Spirit (i'm not a big fan of the scissors on this model). Now to my question: what will be better: black oxide finish or the usual stainless? Any preferences, experiences, advantages, etc? Thanks in advance.

No real advantage to black , looks like hell as it wears . Stainless just gets work and character marks .

Maybe in a few rather rarified trades , lite discipline matters . But by an large a multi is either in a pouch or a pocket .

As always YMMV !

Black oxide looks great - until you use it or carry it awhile. In short order it starts looking crappy. :(

"tacticaloperator"
But of course, with a handle like yours - it just had to be tactical black for you.
As had been stated by others, black ox isn't a tough enough coating/finish to last a minute's drag in the mud.
If you don't mind the "well used" look, it's better to skip the ox version.
Or if you do need the advantage of additional protective anti-rust coating - the ox works until such time it's worn away, then it back to elbow grease with the metal polish!
Purely cosmetic actually, which ever you choose - they both work the same.

Of course there is also the advantage of the non-reflective quality of the oxide coating in situations where stealth is of paramount priority. (e.g. incursions, S&R, etc.) Or have I just stated the obvious?

Oh well. HTH anyways.
