forgive me if this question has already been asked before but i could not find any topic covering it in this forum. Has the swisstool black oxide multi tool been discontinued? I noticed quite a while back that it was getting harder to find black oxide swisstools so i bought seven of them. I gave one to my brother for use at work and I edc another. Two of them have sheepsfoot serrated blades, the rest have spearpoint ones. If anyone can tell me why I can no longer find them ANYWHERE on-line I would appreciate it. thanks, jeff

Although for military or covert purposes a blackened multitool makes sense, I am totally flummoxed about why anyone else would want such a thing. In addition to costing more, the finish wears, and if, for example, the Swisstool is dropped on the ground, especially at night, a dull black finish would make it that much harder to find. Black oxide does protect against oxidation to some extent, but I have never seen rust on a naked Swisstool. Please enlighten :D me.

They are cool looking...nuff said!

I like the way they look and that's about the extent of it. I do have ss swisstools but there is just something about the black oxide that have that cool factor (plus that little extra durability). To each their own I guess.

They look cool. And stealth comes in handy when sneaking into the kitchen at night to open that new multitool package that I hid.

I have no personal experience with either but I've read on another forum that the Swisstool and Spirit are highly polished and are very slippery when your hands are oily or the tool has oil on it. Reportedly, the black oxide versions provide better traction under these conditions.

And they look cool, too. :D
