I was going back through old post reading about 110's over the weekend, and I noticed that noone ever mentions the black oxide finish available from P.C.S.......anyone have one, what is your opinion of it?

I was kinda thinking Black Oxide and Asian Water Buffalo...black on black might look kinda cool?

Looks like we think alike... my last PCS 110 is one & the same! :D I wanted to try the black oxide & Asian water buffalo and think it's awesome. Can't give you any feedback on the black oxide coating as I haven't used this one very much yet. So far I've just been looking at it! :D

Holy Crow!
I was on the custom shoppe page the other nite with my brother. That is the same knife we brainstormed out, including the finger grooves!
except, of course, without your initials... :)
That is one nice looking knife. The black blade does a good job of complimenting the Buff horn.

Are your initials on there JDM???

If so it's funny, that's my initials also!

JDM? You're kidding me, right? Next thing you'll be telling me is that you're also from Illinois and were born in the month of February! :D

OK you either checked my profile or your in the twilight zone!

Just couldn't resist... :D The initials on the bolster are script G.A.M.. Go for the Asian water buffalo scales, I'm sure you won't regret it! :)

It's the next on the list, now the decision is smooth or textured, I lean towards the textured.

Textured gets my vote...but still leaves the smooth to try on a future custom! :D

Ok, here's another idea:

Nickel Bolsters, smooth Asian Buffalo, Black Oxide and no Rivets. Ideally I wish I can use the Damacus instead of the Black Oxide, too bad it's out of stock right now.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I seem to always go with N\S over brass for some reason.

I wonder though how durable their black oxide finish is?

Same here, my reason is that the brass doesn't give me the same level of satisfaction and feel of owning a "custom" cuz I feel like I can get the brass from a stock 110. :D

The Black Oxide provides a mild corrosion resistance. We use it mainly for the look. The Black Oxide is not a very durable finish over time, and will scratch with use. If you are looking for a more durable finish, go with the Black TI coating.
