This little knife is Robert Eggerling carbon damascus with Black Pen mother-of-pearl scales. Jim Small did a superb rendition of fine English scroll in a tiny area.

Beautiful knife, as usual Don. What is black pen mother of pearl, I don't remember ever hearing of it before?

Now I have found a new handle material that I want on a knife. Where can I purchase Black Pen MOP?

Absolutely fantastic looking knife, by the way.

Black pen is a shell from the Philippines. It really looks more like toroise shell than mother of pearl; very subtle stuff. I got it from Joe Culpepper at Mother of Pearl company.

Muy bueno Don! :D

That's a real sharp piece. I had never heard of that type of pearl either. Thanks for the info.

Very nice Don, great work. I have some of this shell but have not used any yet, may have to soon though.

I love this piece. I am a BIG fan of Jim and Don's work, and this one goes well over the top! :D Perfecto backdrop for the style. ;) Don, is this heading to Chicago?

I have heard of the term 'pen shell' before. Sounds like this is the stuff. SHWEEET!

Note to self: "Stop looking at the photos Don has been posting and repeat over and over again, "Slipjoint, slipjoint, slipjoint, slipjoint, slipjoint.........."

Thanks, folks- I know we both enjoyed doing this one a bunch. Coop, this knife sold within two minutes of the time I posted it on my web site. If the new owner will let me keep it that long, I will bring it to Chicago for a photo!
