I know that Al Mar just recently came out with a SERE 2000 with a black blade. I noticed that it also has a black pocket clip. Many people, including myself would like to buy just the black clip for our polished blade SERE. Do you know if Al Mar will be making the new clip available for sale as a seperate component?

Here is an answer to my own question. I just called Al Mar. Good news: they will have black clips available, seperately, in a couple of months.
This is good for all of us who found the polished clip a little too visible when clipped on your pants pocket.

As I do understand why many would want the blacked-out version of the SERE clip, I just have to say that I would list the shiny clip as one of the contributors towards my purchasing this knife.
For some strange reason I just love this clip!!!
I have even polished it up beyond it's factory luster using "Flitz".
Maybe I'm strange and maybe I'm even alone on this one, but I just thought that I would share this anyway.
I will agree, however, that this clip is long, shiny, & loud and will most definately draw attention if worn in plain view. So if you don't want it seen then this new blackened clip should fit the bill. I'm glad to see that AMK is making it available since I've heard this idea suggested here many times before. It is obviously something that many people desire. Just not me!!

I think the Sere 2000 clip is just fine. It's not like every other tactical folder has had a sandblasted or teflon coated clip before. The way the Sere clip is attached to the butt of the knife with two heavy duty screws gives it a bank vault, high tech look.
One thing I can say is this, if anyone out there has avoided buying the Sere 2000 because of the color of the clip...then buy it, take the clip off, spray paint it, and put it back on. You will not be disappointed.

I was also taken by the SERE but didn't like the loud shiny clip.
One BF member was kind enough to offer to blacken it for me...
I sent it to him (from Israel to the states!!) along with another clip I wanted colored (Gunting) and he did it for free - that is one of the reasons I love this place.
As I don't want to offend his privacy - I will let him say whom he is..and not force it on him...

Can you or anyone else who finds out the actual availability date and ordering procedure post something on it when you do? That way we won't have a whole bunch of forum participants calling Al Mar for the same info.

JohnnyLightOn: When I called Al Mar about the clips, I was not given an exact availabilty date. I believe I spoke to G. Fadden. Sounds like their first step is to ship all of the orders for complete SERE 2000s with the black blade (and clip). Then the clips seperately would be available.
I would assume, unless a dealer eventually handles the black clips seperately, the only way to order them would be calling Al Mar directly. Their number is (503) 670-9080. Just like if you needed a replacement clip.
