Just how well will the epoxy coating stay on 1095 blade made by Kabar, ESSE, Onatario RATS and other. I have a couple of Marine Kabars but they have neve seen hard use. To tell you the truth I would mych have the old parkerized coating. It relied on oil in the crystals keeping the blade rust free. I guess the EPA made it to costly for knife makers to use it. I justt can't imagine epoxy powder coating standing up to hard use without chipping or peeling.

If done right, they shouldn't chip or peel. They will acratch, scuff and abrade though. Some of them will look pretty "cool" that way.

I thought you could still get them in park'zed as an option?

Not Kabar. They went to epoxy powder some time ago. The Case Marine knives that never made it to government service and I believe were made by Camillius are parkerized but they are rougher looking all the way around than Kabars. The leather handles are especially rough.

I have a Ka-bar brand Ka-bar and the coating on that came off once I split some logs with it. Other than that it doesn't scratch off easily. But again I have a different brand and not sure of the coating type.
