Black Raven Axe

Agreed... would love to see a pic. If you've got a pic but it is a pain to post, email and I'll put it up for you.

I am hoping I walk into some antique store around here and see one hahaha. Hopefully the owner has never heard of Black Raven or ebay, and I can get it for a decent price.

i found a Zenith feller in a junk shop for $7.00 a few years ago. the handle was a little rough but the bit is in great shape.
once in awhile you get lucky
i've only seen Raven's in books and on line.

I've been trying to snag one cheap on ebay for a LONG time now. If you want one in decent shape you'll spend close to 200 bucks.

I saw a mint Black Raven with a really great deep mark with amazing detail go for $425.00 on the bay. Looked like it just came out of the hardware store.

If you are looking for a real "mint" one, then those will still have the yellow background paint on them. Not too many do. You will also see that mark on hatchets, single bits, and double bits. You can somewhat date them by the manufacturer they have listed on the them - Kelly MFg Co, Kelly Works, American Fork and Hoe, and some say True Temper on the back. These all help to date the head. If you look on my profile page I have a hatchet that still has the yellow, and is pretty old. It took my a long time to find one in that good of shape. If you want I could put up some more pics of it.
