I know this topic has come up many times here and I've read through a ton of threads about Black Raven Axe's. This one is/was a barn find but knowing that fakes exist I still would like to know if it's authentic or not. One side has the embossed logo and the other say's True Temper. Please share your thoughts. If it's real the I think it would be an amazing piece to restore.a-68948887-ybjf5ucbmwv7z5cw~2.jpega-68948887-houabp87k5drkve1~2.jpega-68948887-smpzv5d721m41eqb~2.jpega-68948887-dn21u4cqkb1lihmi~2.jpeg

If you run into a fake it's not gonna be in a condition like this and it certainty won't be in a barn.
I'd be surprised to even run into a fake at a flea market, it's pretty much just going to be online and for a ridiculous price as far as I know.
The black ravens are not like the Colin's Legitimus axes, as far as I know they were not being faked in their day.
This axe seems like a very honest old tool to me.
The toes have significant wear, but a wire wheel could certainly have this looking presentable enough.
I don't know if you'd want to remove steel from the bit, but it's a tough decision to make for sure.

Does it look like somebody prematurely wore some steel away on a grinder, or just used it a lot ?
Some history is good history and some like over sharpening isn't.
