Black rawhide lanyards

I enjoyed the tread the other day on lanyards and the various knots used on them. I see a lot of black rawhide lanyards out there.

Do you guys buy the rawhide already black ?

Or do you just buy the regular natural rawhide boot laces and color them black (with what?) ?


I bought some regular natural rawhide laces today and used some Kiwi Scuff Magic in black to color them.... Worked real good! Even made a lanyard for my little CRKT Titanium linerlock. I used a permanent ink black magic marker to touch up the ends that I cut and other little spots--worked great too!

I've used the same technique on belts that I shortened, black marker on the cut ends. It lasts about forever.

Try some different colors on lanyards, too. I replaced the black on my N.I.C.A. tanto Sebenza with red paracord. Nice exotic look!
