Black Richlite?

I was surfing the Emerson website (as I so often do) and noticed the CQC-7 Flipper was offered with Black Richlite handles.

Is this something new on production models, and what are the general reviews?

At the risk of heresy, of all the things I really love about Emersons, one of the things NOT on my list is the G-10. Don't get me wrong, I really like the scales on my circa 1998 Commander, but the more recent move to the "grabbier" texture just doesn't do it for me.
 
Since Ernest just announced the material at a knife show held by another knife forum... yes brand new... there is a video though you’ll need to search
