Black Screws for Folders??

About all the black ones you can find are the alloy type. I've never found any black in stainless steel. We powdercoat them or drill/tap a small piece of sheet metal, screw in a bunch of them and send to Bodycote for coating.

What about heat coloring them ? If you countersink them enough you don't have to worry about the finish rubbing off too easily.
I don't know how it would work for stainless but I just finished a bunch of fittings for a black powder rifle that way. Heat it once till its a deep blue and let it cool slowly. Scuff it up with some 400 grit paper and heat it again. It all came out a slate gray, kind of flat. Its not really shiney but it still hs a metallic look to it.
