Does anyone know of a good black nylon sheath for short becker knives similar to the factory sheath? It seems like becker only makes them in tan. If not, I'll just go with a kydex sheath and a tek lok.

Also check the kabar short sheath - it's leather but only 10 bucks (black or tan) I've seen a few guys using them for the 15

Spec Ops is good.

But, for the price, I'd go with Kydex. Several members here do excellent work.

The Kabar short black leather sheath (1256S) is an excellent alternative, especially for the price.

There's a couple of threads running around where folks have dyed a tan Becker sheath black using Rit or something similar. Don't know how well they wore as long-term feedback on the efforts never got posted. Still keep meaning to do it myself as an experiment.

I like the spec ops sheaths. You get the versatility of a nylon sheath, but there's a kydex insert so you get good retention

I tried this. Jury's still out but not sure it's really going to last. Some have suggested a leather die might be more effective.

Rit dye works well.
I dyed a grey SpecOps sheath black.
The directions call for vinegar when dying nylon.

I thought I'd give Rit Dye a try before spending $40+ on a sheath. I used the dark green dye mixed with white vinegar and hot water. After mixing it for 45 minutes here is the result.

Now I've just gotta let it dry.

You'd be better off buying new. The factory 15 sheath is crap.

I disagree, are the stock sheaths up to the quality of say a spec ops or kydex? No. But it is still a well made sheath that does the job. Protects the edge and allows it to ride on your belt, and will last just as long as many others
