Black Southard came in the mail today . . .

. . . just as I was leaving on a business trip. Luckily it's a road trip, so I tossed the box in the car and took off. I snapped a few photos of it along the way, and several states later I'm settled in my hotel.

Here are a few quick crappy cell phone first photos.

It feels a bit different with the coating, but as usual the fit and finish, as well as function, are superb.

At this point I'm pretty sure I'll buy any new Southard version Spyderco puts out. Mini version? Sign me up. Mega version? I'm all over it. Heck, even if they put one out in that heinous rainbow unicorn shimmer princess look that Kershaw uses sometimes I'd probably still buy it . . .

Steve has some other scales in the works for me as well. I think a couple of them might look nice, particularly the red c-tek (Steve's suggestion) or the white mother of pearl kirinite. We'll all see soon enough

As is, I kind of really like the all-blacked out looks. I also hear that the G-10 texture is much easier on the palm.

Thanks, I should have mentioned that--the scale texture is smoother, still grippy but not as aggressively scratchy as the original.

The backgrounds make me want to hit the road.

Benefit of my job, I have to travel quite a bit but I can drive instead of flying if I prefer. The cellphone pictures above where shot in three different states yesterday.
