. . . just as I was leaving on a business trip. Luckily it's a road trip, so I tossed the box in the car and took off. I snapped a few photos of it along the way, and several states later I'm settled in my hotel.

Here are a few quick crappy cell phone first photos.

It feels a bit different with the coating, but as usual the fit and finish, as well as function, are superb.

At this point I'm pretty sure I'll buy any new Southard version Spyderco puts out. Mini version? Sign me up. Mega version? I'm all over it. Heck, even if they put one out in that heinous rainbow unicorn shimmer princess look that Kershaw uses sometimes I'd probably still buy it . . .

lol. Best Kershaw description ever!!! And thanks for the pics. I was curious what it was going to look like in actual photos. How do you like it compared to the original poo brown?

That plus that white juma scale you got...

Steve has some other scales in the works for me as well. I think a couple of them might look nice, particularly the red c-tek (Steve's suggestion) or the white mother of pearl kirinite. We'll all see soon enough ;)

Congrats EvilGreg AKA the Southard Dude.

Can't wait to see your scale combos for it.

As is, I kind of really like the all-blacked out looks. I also hear that the G-10 texture is much easier on the palm.

Wow that new all black Southard looks awesome!
It would look so nice with the new material I have and used to make some scales for :)

Red Shred Carbon Fiber. Looks so awesome in person

New Blue Lightning Strike Carbon Fiber.

Thanks, I should have mentioned that--the scale texture is smoother, still grippy but not as aggressively scratchy as the original.

The backgrounds make me want to hit the road.

Benefit of my job, I have to travel quite a bit but I can drive instead of flying if I prefer. The cellphone pictures above where shot in three different states yesterday.

Nice work, those both look great. More neat stuff to consider. ;)

Man that is one cool looking Southard.

Technically I was carrying two Southards, because this is the one I already had in my pocket yesterday when the mailman rolled up as I was leaving:

Hot-dog. Beautiful looking knives. I wanted so bad to get the black southard, right now is a tough time financially for me.

Congratulations on one heck of a score....

Sweet. My Juma scale is on its way. I should have it tomorrow. :)

If you feel so inclined, I'd love to see what that scale looks like on the black Southard.
