I am a big fan of the Police model (like many others), but find both the current options a bit less than desirable for utility purposes. I own a G10, and with the liner it seems pretty tough. I would add a stainless handled Police to my lineup, but it is just too dang bright! That big hunk of bright steel calls too much attention in all but the lightest of clothes!
I have seen a few references to some uncommon black coated police models, but they seem rare and pricey. I for one would love to see a SS Police, with the handle finished in TiNi or power coating - tough and stealthy!

I do like the looks of the all black Police model. The coating totally eliminates any glare, and I think it helps add a little traction to the handle. If you wanted to coat your own handle,I think you'll find some of the spray on finishes used on firearms may work. There are some that I've seen that just required a little sanding, and a heat gun. Or you could use a regular oven to bake the coating on. I'm not sure how that will affect the temper of the blade though.
