black stuff in etching pits..

is the black stuff left in the pits after etching a knife a cause for corcern if the blade will be used for food prep?
 
I doubt it would be a problem.You could scrub it with a plastic bristle brush and a baking soda water mix to neutralize the etchant if you havent already.
