Black Szabo Folder, new and improved

I had the older gold strike carbon fiber satin Szabo folder but sold it due to the huge reflective blade and sharp corners of the inner liners.

I recently bought the Black Szabo Folder, its' AWESOME. The black blade hides it's length very well, when whopped out in public it does not look nearly as large as it really is. Also the manufacture has hit the inner corners of the edges with some sort of sanding which is visible to the eye. However the edges are no longer sharp to the touch and the handle is MUCH more comfortable in handling.

Of course, both blades are dead centered, even grind, rock solid with no play in either direction. The quality of the Taichung knives are incredible.

*I vote for Spyderco to move all non frn knife production from Japan to Taichung* =)

I still like the carbon fiber and satin blade but the black 1 is really slick looking too!

I too bought the gold wired version, long before it became cool, you know, back when people were making fun of Laci Szabo's designs as being impractical, ceremonial Klingon weaponry.

The only reason I let it go to a friend, was because of the hotspots that the somewhat blocky cutout provided when I handle it. Are you saying that this issue has been ironed out of the black version of this knife? How big are your hands, sir? If you don't mind answering?

But sadly they are still tough to open ;(
Beautiful folding scimitar though. Too big for EDC

If I did not think I could learn to open fast enough with a Spydie Drop, I could get it waved by Charlie Mike from here on the forums. And if you carry an XL Voyager or even the Spartan as an EDC beater for a month, this will be no issue to you. Laws may vary...
