Does anybody know anything about using a product called Black-T for knife coating? I contacted the folks that own the process and they said they can coat my blade for a very reasonable price and They say it has incredible wear resistance and works great on knives, although they mostly coat guns. i just want to know if any of you have any experience with it or can tell me anything about it?

One of the original low friction thermal cure firearms and equipment coatings out there. Long history behind it, Benchmade used to send stuff to Birdsong to get coated in Black T. The exact process is a trade secret, but it's similar to parkerizing and then spray applying a heat cured resin coating that soaks into the porous surface and bonds fairly permanently. It is somewhat soft compared to some other heat cured coatings so it does scratch and wear, mostly it'll burnish to a smoother finish unless you're cutting something that has grit or rocks in it. Very resistant to flaking and peeling, and most chemical paint strippers. To actually wear it to the point that you get to bare metal takes quite some time, as I found out when I tried to satin finish a Black T coated AFCK once upon a time.

Thank you very much! You've told me exactly what i need to know. I think it'll make a decent option for a knife coating. And it is very inexpensive to.
