Black & Tan Arrivals!

Just when i thought black canvas was my go-to material, I start liking the black & tan G10 !! Now what do I do?!?!?!? I guess I needed a Black & Tan ASH1 to match my latest B&T Ganza Swatmandu!

Very nice! I just ordered another TGLB and after about a week of trying to decide which handles I wanted, I went with black and tan too.

Congrats on the scores... So, which one feels better in your hand without looking at it?

If you're referring to the two ASH1's, they are the same dimensionally, however the G10 material has a hardness & sharpness to it than can be felt immediately. You can feel the machining to the G10 more noticeably because the material is harder, so every groove can be felt. With the canvas micarta, it has a softer feel to the touch and also conversely, the grooves machined into the grip are not as sharp. They are cut the same, but what I am saying is that the softer texture makes the grip grooves feel less sharp.

Also, G10 is more resilient in that it does not absorb anything since it is a pure synthetic, whereas the canvas micarta will change color and absorb liquids it comes in contact with.

Which do I prefer? It's still a toss-up. I like them both!

Not sure if you have noticed, but the double cut knives have their handles bead blasted as well, that's why machining of the micarta feels a lot softer.
