Every time I talked with this client he would jack up the ricasso thickness on this camp knife.....we started out at .250". I finally had to put my foot down at .320". :D Thanks for viewing and your comments are welcome.

V/R,

TK

CPM 3V stock - .320" at the ricasso
HT to Rc 59-60
14" OAL
9" Flat ground blade - convex edge geometry
Pinned/soldered guard
Thumb serrations on spine
220 grit belt satin finish
Black linen micarta scales
416 Stainless furniture
Red liners on tapered tang
8-10 oz leather sheath

Your Loveless homage pieces are nice but my favorite designs from you are ones like this that show original thought. You have a knack for combining the classic with the classy--this is a very good example IMO.

How much taper is built into the blade? Does it thin out quite a bit for handling or does it retain thickness near the point for strength and to stand up to batonning, etc?

Balance point is where?

Nice piece. Love the handle ergos and the finish work looks spot on. Nice images as well.

Thanks!

The spine runs full thickness for six inches - distal taper begins 3" from the point. Neutral balance is 1.100" forward of guard front edge. Blade width is 1 1/2" full flat ground to .035" then a convex edge geometry rolled in. My Black Thunder is more a camp knife but the changes specified by the client will make it perform like a chopper due to the longer blade/thicker spine/forward mass heavy/convex edge.

Thanks for your interest!

Good balance for an all around camp knife with occasional chopping duties--nice job throughout. I bet your customer is tickled.
