like the title says
im looking to get a new sog trident w tanto blade. does the black blade protect against rust? is it better than the standard silver color blade??
any help is appreciated

I would think the coat will be pretty resistant to rust... it has a glossy finish and is pretty sweet.

Think you have your answer!
Any coating is better than none; and the blackTiNi is great at doing just that.
Go for it dude.

Some people like the coating, some people don't. I like it personally. It's supposed to protect the blade against rust and reduces glare.

Get it if you like the looks as AUS8 steel is pretty rust resistant already

lol , I'm looking at the Aegis and seeing the price difference with the normal satin vs the Tini blade, i was gonna ask the same question , already answered , cheers people ! ! :)

i should have explained myself better
just wondering if the black blade will protect it against rust as compaired to the satin blade. $$ is not a prob just trying to say is the extra 10 bucks worth it or nt because i think the satin blade looks better.

If you like the looks of the satin blade, then I would say get it without the coating. The steel used in the Trident folding knife (AUS8) is pretty resistant to rust by itself
