An xm-18 just sold at Arizona Knives that had a black titanium handle...anybody seen this before? Was that anodized? What's it called? I gotta have one..

I can't get a black color by anodizing titanium so I can't believe its anodizing doing the black color. Probably some kind of baked on finish I suspect.

Yeah I just saw that too, is this going to be a new option? Rob????????????????????????

I downloaded this pic a few days ago, from the Hinderer web page I think.

He mentioned these a while back. They were a run that some counter terrorism unit (maybe some military branch. Don't remember exactly what) from some European country commissioned.

They were done for the Zurich SWAT team, it is DLC. The 2 non-flippers pictured above went to the blade show. The 20 on the way to Switzerland are all half serrated flippers, see below.

I am afraid they will not be a normal production offering, nor is it something that we are going to take orders for. At this point they will only be avalable at shows, and happenings at the shop............and maybe an upcoming lottery here in the forum very soon, hint, hint.

There was one custom at the show with a black frame as well.

That would be awesome, I'll have to keep a close eye on this forum, I don't want to miss out on the opportunity. Thanks Rob.

No reason you couldn't have ion bond dlc ect done by an outside vendor. Maybe Rob would weigh in on its affects on warranty, if any.

Guys, I'd warn against trying to get an XM DLC coated on your own. Not only would it void the warranty, but it may actually look worse than it did before the attempt. I saw two at Blade Show that someone sent off and they honestly looked like crap (as in, I'd rather carry a beat up user XM with a pink scale than either of them!). Rick and the gang put time and money into making sure the knives that leave the ranch are top shelf. Leave the "modding" to them.

Hmm, you can send your XM to the ranch to get anodized, I wonder if they are going to offer DLC also? Pretty please?
