This Flat Grind Shark's Tooth Knife is made from 1/8" 01 Tool Steel Bar Stock. The total length of the knife is 6 ½" with a 3"blade. At the widest part, the blade is 1 1/8" wide.
This knife handle is beautiful Black Walnut Burl with Black Vulcanized Spacers. The Lanyard has three beads that have been hand turned, using the same material as the handle. The two 7/32" Mosaic Pins were handmade, by me.
The blade has been etched to add dimension.

I do love making knives. It is my passion, my art. Every knife that I make is for sale and it is still a thrill when each of them sell!!

The short answer is simple, the etching is mustard.

It all started on accident (mustard not wiped off a kitchen knife) and when I saw the results, I started playing with it. I thought that I had come up with something original and "amazing" but after flipping through Wayne Gotthard’s book, I realized that it is an old "trick." I just dab the blade with the design I want and put it aside to dry. After several hours, up to eight, I take it off and do the whole thing all over again. It takes several applications but the mustard will etch the steel and leave the design.

Mustard eh? Does it need to be applied before heat treating or will it etch no matter what?

Beautiful knife by the way, really like the design.

REally nice. I like the etching, but where can you get that Black Walnut Burl..I've been trying to find some
