Hi. I managed to get one of the black xm18 that where made for the Swiss SWAT team. It's the version that was discussed here some weeks ago.
It's a nice blade, but I have two questions that I can hope one of you guys can help me with:

-How durable is that dlc coating? The great thing about bead blasted is that even after long usage it hardly shows traces of wear. I'm afraid that scratching te blade or the Ti handle of this black version for examples on keys wil seriously show. (metal through black..?)

-Anybody knows the blade steel that is used on this version?

I have DLC on a Benchmade 710 in M390, BM says its their best coating at the moment, but every coating wears off.
I think the Zurich SWAT wouldn't care about scratches they will use them for their work, they don't worry about the looks.
I assume its either CTS-XHP or maybe CPM-S35VN like the latest batch of XM-24's.

I wouldn't worry about the coating or blade steel, that there is a grail knife!
But I did read somewhere that it is CTS-XHP.

It will hold up well in terms of corrosion resistance. A key trait in its selection I presume. It's going to scratch. I'd say use the snot out of it then have it BB when you can't stand looking at it any longer.

i been edcing mine and place no keys on the side of the blade in my pocket, and already i scratched it still, it's going to get scratched, the clip was the first thing, and some rub marks on the TI side. still looks good, to be afraid to use, excellent blade...lucky me
