Took my BAS out in the back behind my yard this morning. There was a big tangle of blackberry bushes that have been encroaching on my space that I have ignored for a few years.

I touched up the edge before I started with a stone. Most of the blackberry branches are now laying on the ground. The BAS sliced right through even the biggest ones, which were maybe an inch in diameter with ease.

I have done this before with a machete but a lot of the time the blade would "bounce" the branch and not slice all the way through.

The BAS would slice cleanly all the way in one swing. I would guess that the angled design of Khukuris would account for this, as the blade is forced to slice the branch and not just chop.

In 30 minutes I was able to accomplish what would usually be a couple hour task.

Now I just have to go pick up the mess

My 25" kobra is my designated blackberry chopper, my folks place is 5 acres and it's always been a battle to keep it clear for the horses, what used to be a chore is now fun & games and I think that's the true greatness of the khukuri.

The edge is still razor sharp. Some of the older branches were real "woody" and tough too. I would imagine that a long, light blade like the Kobra would be great too. I think I could swing the BAS all day with little fatigue, it feels like a natural extension of my arm.

I have to find some blackberry bushes...

Here in western Washington state, on the WET coast of the USA, blackberries are everywhere, and they can soon overrun your property if you don't hack 'em back or kill them with herbicide. I don't use herbicides at all, so I will use Khukricide on them
