Hi guys,

Knife noob here and I have a huge problem deciding which knife I should choose for camping and bushcrafting near the coast.

So far, the choice has been between the Ontario Blackbird SK-5 or Benchmade 162 Bushcrafter. But today I got an email in my inbox about the Fallkniven F1 which I've never heard about before (here's the newsletter I received by the way: http://gearupbro.com/fallkniven-f1-w-zytel-sheath/). From the product description it looks brilliant and all the positive review all around the Internet about this knife starts making me considering adding that one to the list too. All these three knives are pretty much equal when it comes to size, and they are all made of stainless steel. But what differs their steels'?

Which one of those 3 would you choose for, for example, a 2 week camping trip out in the Boreal forest given that you bring a saw and axe too?

I really need some help deciding here guys as I'm sick and tired of just looking at them online. :grumpy:

Thanks :D

Seen a few threads where Ontario Blackbirds broke, but mostly during batoning, so I consider that "user error" in most cases, and since you're taking an axe....

Really like the look and materials of the Benchmade, but haven't had the chance to try one.

You'll have to look long and far to find people that have experience with them, that say anything bad about Fallknivens.

I would go the the F-1, I've been using one for a long time and it's one of my all time favorite knives. It's about the most perfect size and the small zytel sheath will go into any pocket if your not in to wearing a belt. The spine is sharp and works great with a ferro rod and the handle just fits my hands. Big plus is that if you don't like it you can sell it pretty quick and try something else.

Yeah I'm not gonna use it for batoning. I use my axe for splitting firewood.

The F1 is my dream knife. I don't have one because I have a $40 Mora Bushcraft that is more than capable of doing what I need done, but if I had that kind if budget the F1 would be my first choice.

I have plenty of Moras' too and they are great. My favorite Mora is the HighQ Robust.
