 I own a few Spydies and have watched and read with interest what was being said about the Byrd line of cutlery. I took the plunge and ordered a Cara Cara in the black. I was very surprised with the quality of this knife and after I recieved it last night, I was able to come home at mid shift to get the knife and see how it would stand up to some of the material that I commonly encounter in my tasks. I had to and am still in the process of "sweetening" up the edge profile on this knife and did a quick touch up prior to trying it out on some material. I then sailed through some nylon Panduit tywraps, some cardboard scrap, nylon and cellulose rope ( weight graded rope at that) and this knife held a very good to excellent edge through it all. the finish is excellent and fitup is very solid. I like the matte finish as it lends itself to being low key in appearance and does not evoke so much fear in people. I used it to cut a small square of bubble wrap at a park trail parking area and was approached by a young lady inquiring about the bug factor on the trail as I was cutting the wrap. She seemed to be your cake eating "sheeple" type and wasn't alarmed by my knife and to be honest, I don't think she even noticed it. So, I have to say that the few coins I expended for this knife and it's intended purpose has been worth it. It is smooth to open but still a little tight. There is no up or down or lateral play while locked open. the clip is firm and it rides low in my pocket. It has a real nice hollow grind and is v beveled at edge grind. i will report more as I get more time with this knife. :D

Thanks for the review! I'm looking at the Byrd line to get my friends hooked on knives. They definitely seem to be the way to go!
