Has anyone ever used or held one of these knives. They appear sleek and comfortable in the hand. I like the assisted opening feature. However I dont no how much about the knife's durability and toughness.

Anyone with info about this knife will be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums!

Since I do not own any of the Blackhawk models I can only comment on the materials used to make it. It does seem like a nice sleek knife but I think that you can find a much better knife for the same price. The 440C steel and FRN handles are fine knife materials but it seems a little pricey to me. There are other assisted openers (AO) out there that have better materials for the same price or less. Try taking a look at Kershaw, Benchmade or Spyderco products for price vs material comparisons. Not all of these makers have a large AO line, but they do have great choices available. I do believe that Blackhawk makes a very good knife, it just seems that you could do better for the price. Good Luck in your search!

Be aware that you have just started down the road of the "knife poor":D.

Thanks! Soleil... I am glad to have found this Forum for all things Blade related.

You are right that knife is a tad expensive. It looks like it would be comfortable in the hand defensively, with the blade closed. I saw it on a video talking about the Jani-Song, which looks super cool...

Ironically , i was doing research on the Cold Steel Recon 1. I was interested in that tactical knife originally. I like the security of a nice tactical knife. Working for the Telephone Company, i am in some 'not so nice areas' of Houston MEtro area. Plus being a volunteer Firefighter , I would like a sharp, small, quick blade.

"knife poor" . :D love to hate it.

Check out the Kershaw Leek and other Ken Onion designs, they should fill your needs at a reasonable price.

Thanks Soliel !, I will check those knives out.

Glad to be apart of Bladeforums.com

Well, I was able to hold a BHB30. I went to the gun range and one of the Techs behind the counter had one. It was OK. Felt nice in the hand. I really didnt like the liner-lock. It seemed a little weak for my tastes. It was configured for tip-down carry, As far as Assisted-open knives, i checked out a couple of other Sypdercos and a Gerber, they didnt feel comfortable to me. The BHB30 AO is fun, but for the money I think i will put my money somewhere else.

I need something more solid when the blade is deployed, especially on duty.
