I know that both of these companies are under the Blackhawk name but is there any difference between the two? Quality and things like that? I've been looking but not really able to find anything about it. Thanks

My understanding is that they were originally under the MOD (Master's of Defense) name. After a few years under that name they were either bought-out by or changed their name to the current "Blackhawk".

I've owned several MOD knives but have not purchased anything since the name change to Blackhawk. I have read on some forum threads that the quality is not as good now that they are under the Blackhawk name but I cannot confirm this from experience.

I never had any problems with any of my MOD folders. Most of the earlier models were much like Microtech knives with beefier locks.

I like my CQD I that I bought from them to be tatici- cool. It is a MOD brand sold by them since they bought them out. It only has some very small blade play, because on of my former friends borrowed it and snapped it open over and over.

There customer service is awful. They send wrong products, do not answer phone calls and emails. quality of knives is about same as when MOD had them.

The examples I have seen/owned were well made . Some of the designs were a tad bit over the top . Some are quite clean . Not sure I would want to pay MSRP .

They have acquired so many companies and brands, and it seems that they have become so disorganized

They also seem to be going for lower production costs and thus their stuff are losing quality

And it seem that even customer service is lacking now.

sad case. It was my frav brand.

i called them up on a tuesday about sharpening a knife and the lady was relly nice and by the next wed i got it back! fast and polite service in the first hand matter i have with them
