I always thought the Benchmade Nimravus Cub was the perfect size for EDC. I don't understand why they discontinued it. I came across an ad for the Blackhawk Crucible in VG-10. Seems like a good blade at a good price and a good size for EDC. Does anyone have an opinion on this blade?

Just got the Crucible folder last week. It is the same as the fixed blade. I was thinking about EDC with it , but its a little to heavy and wide for me. Seems Very well made. Will be getting rid of it in the near future. The liner lock is flush with the scales so you have to work a little harder at closing. I don't think it could happen by accident. Have not used it as I want to keep it as new. You should get good service with the knife. It's a solid knife even in the folder. VG-10 is their newer steel being use, as mine came with ATS-34. IMO the VG-10 is a good steel. Like others it has a lot to do with the heat treatment, but thats another story. Good luck with your decision.

I think, the Nim cup is a great fixed blade edc and am disapointed too. The Blackhawk is far away from that. Blade much to high and heavy. No comparision to the Nim cup.

It sounds like this might be too heavy for EDC. None of the spec sheets show the weight. I guess my quest for the perfect EDC fixed blade goes on. I'm also looking at A Rat Cutlery RC-3. Looks like a good size at a reasonable price.
