Well, I was wondering if anyone can recommend this knife? I have looked high and low for a Blackhawk Crucible in VG-10, but they seem to be pretty rare. I love the design and size, and the one I briefly held felt great in my hands. Thus, design is not an issue. The FX2s are made from AUS-8A vs. the earlier VG-10 versions.

I was wondering if anyone has carried this blade for a while put the Crucible FX2 through its paces? If so, what do you think? Has the AUS-8A performed well? How is the heat treat for the Blackhawk Blades line when it comes to their AUS-8A knives? Any idea what hardness they treat these blades up to (57, 58, 60??)?

All opinions and experiences are welcome!

Thanks in advance.

Hello I have a pretty good amount of experience with the Crucible line. I currently own both folders the orginal and the newer one. I have also handled both fixed blades before. They are amazing knives designed by an amazing intstructor. The VG-10 models are very hard to find, but the ATS-34 ones are not too hard to get. They are around $150 and up. They feel great are quite light and razor sharp. I actually prefer the newer series in AUS-8. Speaking for the folders comparison, the new Crucible 2 is cheaper, easier to find, lighter, sharper, opens smoother, locks up better, has a wider handle, and has a better g-10 handle. The fixed blades stack up the same as the folders. Theyre all great knives and I wish I had all of them, but i think the new series is better and improved, I cannot however speak for the VG-10 model. Also, both fixed blades come with the TCCS sheath system which has pretty much every carrying option available, with some work lol. Hope that all helped and good luck, you can't go wrong with any of them
