I'd like some opinions from owners/handlers of this knife. Seems reasonably priced at $60-$70 bucks and looks stout with great ergos.

Thanks.

Is there no one who has owned/handled this knife that could shed some light on it's +/-'s....?

Thanks:thumbup:

I have the version that was made in Seki Japan with ATS -34 steel and really like it alot. To me it's similar to a Spyderco Native in design, (similar, not exact). Regardless, it fills my hand which is somewhat large. Stout, centered blade, lock is very solid. What I really like is the fact that the lock sits flush with the handle giving additional confidence and comfort:thumbup::)

I love these knives right to death. The ergonomics are great and fit my hand nicely. Get one you will absolutly not regret it!

Thanks Paul...yeah, it does resemble a Native. I'm sure the steel is better on the Native but I sure like the handle shape of this Blackhawk.
I might try one out.

How's that D2 Para working out? LOL
After I traded it I got the itch again for one and picked up a digicam version. That's the first knife I've ever had to re-acquire after letting it go. They're great knives.:D

For 60-70 bucks, I'd be contemplating between that knife and a Manix 2. They have similar blade shapes and handles. Not trying to dissuade your decision about getting the Crucible II, but you may consider having a look at the Manix II, especially with its robust caged ball bearing lock. The Manix II uses 154cm fwiw.

I'm not a fan of the Manix 2's sharp handle edges. That's the reason I moved my Tenacious too.

Other than that the Manix 2 is a good knife but I hadnt seen this Crucible II before and I thought it looked interesting.

I have both crucible2 and the original. I actually like the new one better than the original. The new one is slightly larger, heavier, and the handle is much wider. The g-10 they use is amazing and is quite coarse but very good for grip, the ergos are very good, the lockup is incredible, and sounds like a gunshot when it locks open. It is quite a pocketfull though IMO and is quite heavy as well, over 6oz I believe. But tdespite how the knife looks the blade is suprisingly short, 3" but very wide. The only thing I don't like about the new one is it uses AUS-8a steel. I like aus-8 but not for 60-70 bucks (the rat 1 folder uses aus-8 and is only around$30.)I would go ahead and get the crucible if you like the tactical looks and know about Kelly Mccann, but get the PE.

I've championed the Crucible models since some years back, specifically the older series. Unlike some designs designed by "tactical gurus" out there, Kelly McCann actually designed something that works. The short but stout blade is a multi-tasker actually for a lot of chores.

Well made, well designed and very ergonomic in the hand, but the highlight of the design: the strong, functional liner lock. One of the few production liner locks that I would trust my fingers on. That's coming from someone who's not too fond of that lock type ever since one failed on me.

I had the original and really liked it, sold it to my couysin though. But from the sound of the new version I would like to try that out! I like smaller knives that are built stout, and the Crucible 2 sounds like it is.:)

I handled one but didn't like it. I have large hands but the handle's too small for me because of its shape. I've since bought a CS American Lawman and am extremely happy with it.

I once had an original version in ATS34. I have rather small hands and still fit me well. I did not use it much but really wish I did not get rid of it. Get it and enjoy Kelly Mccann really knows his stuff. There are alot of his videos on youtube.
