I searched the forums a bit and some folks say the Blackhawk Airborne sheath will fit a BK2 and some say it won't. The listed specs I found say it can hold knives up to 5.5" long and 0.25 thick but the with is only 1.25. Does anyone know for sure if it fits or can be made to fit ?
Thanks

1.5" thick, won't fit, BK2 is 1 5/8", full.

The SpecOps sheaths will, Iron Mountain will (Kits), the ESEE 5 Sheaths will (Mine), and there's another one, GUYON!!!! A little help here, please.

Anyhoo, there are a few that will, there are some makers, like Chestnut Ridge, and Marion David Proff that do, some fine, fine work on their kydex bending. Some wierdo here makes leather for them, I think, and then there's the standard comes with it Kabar sheath that you can put on an ESEE Molle back and add a pouch. All in all, the price of the sheath mirrors the price of the knife, and can be found at your local Google search engine.

then there's the Hedgehog Leather sheath.

damn fine work :) just be sure you're sitting down first when you see the price.

there are also old Eagle sheaths that you can sometimes find that will work.

Also, ESEE makes two different sheaths that fit? one has the front and back, use existing sheath, and the other is a one piece? cornfused :)

Yup, the one I got is an ESEE5 SHEATH, it is all one piece. They now make a Molle back panel and a pouch that does the exact same thing as the sheath I got, only you use a kydex sheath as the chassis for the molleback and pouch. The 5 and 6 come with kydex sheaths, Doublebarrels sheaths by the look of them, and they are riveted to fit the Molleback.

Wierd huh? Either way, I likes me some ESEE5 SHEATH, now I gotta get a Molle back and pouch for my ESEE5, as my BK2 says it ain't givin' up its new home for nothin'.

Yeah, it's kind of weird at first when you are trying to figure it out but it's super easy.

I like the all-in-one factor for the ESEE5SHEATH that you can but the BK2 in since it is an all-in-one unit. I really think the MOLLEBACK FOR 5/6 should either be a tad cheaper or come with the storage pouch for the front. You can pick up the esee5sheath for around $40 - $50 but the cheapest I have found the actual 5/6 sheath and pack combined for is $65. I wish the price would be a bit more competitive since you are already using your kydex sheath, which purchased costs around $18, so you are looking at around $85 for the sheath versus the $50 ESEE5/BK2 sheath that includes a kydex inside.

I realize the modularity makes it more versatile, but $65 for both pieces is pretty steep compared to the ESEE5SHEATH when you already have the kydex holder for your 5 or 6.

My two cents, just bought both styles, only have received the front pouches so far.

I'm going to try and sell one of the big sewing machines I picked up. But all these sheath threads really have me thinking. Since I do have the big commercial machines I might as well try and figure out how to run them and get some sheaths going.

I have made sheaths in the past before but the sewing part really killed it for me. Now I have no excuse.

There's definetly a huge market out there, for good sheaths at fair prices. For what alot of people want for a solid sheath, if I had the machine to do it, I would add cordura to my leather/kydex operation. But I do hate kydex so.

ETA: You ready for your BH# yet?

Ya, the machines would probably sew through kydex ;)! They were used on saddles etc, so they're pretty beefy. I've got two big ones(Singer and a Sunco) and a third smaller Singer that could handle all the nylon you could throw at it. Its a 1950 something model with the original book.

The first machines I picked up at an auction. I just couldn't bare to see them go too cheap. They were pretty dirty...I brought one home from the barn to start cleaning up just yesterday. I had to recrute some help to load the darn thing. With the table that it is hooked to it weighs every bit of 150 pounds. Not that it is so heavy but it was way to akward for me to load alone. The last one was a bargain too.

Ready, for a BH#...heck yes I am ready for a BH number!

Ya know... I'm not much of a leather sheath kinda guy, but the more I look at yours Moose the more I like it. Very nice!
