Hey -

I just picked up a BlackJack Simba blade, pristine, with a new sheth on the side...

I had one in the mid-nineties, but let it go - wicked double-edged 12" blade....

Anyway, the QUESTION: do ALL Blackjack blades have the manufacture's location stamped
on the reverse side from the blade logo/blade name (like "Effingham, Ill") ? I just want to be sure
it's a true Blackjack product, and not a knock-off -

Thanks much!

Contact Mike Stewart,he will know...ive read that some Blackjacks have the knife piercing the Ace,others have it piercing the Jack...this probably denotes place or time of manufacture..im not sure if this is correct or not?.....great knives anyway..i love my 1-7.......................................FES

Wait, are bark river and blackjack connected somehow?

Mike Stewart owned BlackJack, it went bankrupt in the early 90's and the name was sold, then about 10 years later Stewart started Bark River, after working for Marble's for a bit. And still does contract work on the new BlackJacks after the company was restarted by the new owners(Ken Warner, later Blue Ridge Knives).

Mike Stewart has had his hand in a lot of companies(both for good and bad) over the years.

To the original question, yes, some are etched that way, it's correct.

Pre - Effingham.

Ask Mike to be sure, but 1991- 1993 or so, they were still importing certain models, and the Simba fits right in there.

One other thing, I just looked about a dozen Simbas sold on Ebay and or various forums, and about 40% of them were etched just like yours with no Effingham stamp. So I wouldn't worry.
