Blackjack Knives Model 13 at 5 1/2”…how difficult to find?

Hey all.

Hoping you all can shed a bit of light on this for me. A friend of mine, an avid Hunter and outdoorsman, asked me if I knew anything about BJ knives. I just know the name. He told me he was looking for a new knife for the upcoming hunting season and said he’d like to have one of this model and asked if I’d help him try to find one.

In my searching it looks like they aren’t made any longer. Please correct me if I’m wrong. The listings I saw for this model were all sold out. It is a damn nice looking knife, if I must say.

So…can you all tell me a bit about this model? Will it be hard to find one? How often do they show up on the USED market?

Any info you can add would be helpful.

Thanks.

I'm (hopefully) saying this in a nonjudgmental way....

You've been a member here since 2001 and you aren't very familiar with Blackjack/Bark River Knives?

there are almost weekly topics about their knives, and sometimes their antics.

You will inadvertently stir up alot of angst from the members here who don't like the head of BR, Mike Stewart.

There are Many, Many links here if you do a search.

Long story short, Blackjack is a brand of Bark River Knives. Good Luck with your endeavors. :D

I wouldn't recommend the model 13 as a hunting knife. It's has thick blade stock, intended as a fighting knife, I believe.

They seem to show up sparingly. The 5 1/2" was never as popular as the 7 1/2" version. I'm not sure they're discontinued, but Blackjack works on a weird batch system where most old models fall into a "we'll get to it, when we get to it" type thing. The only constant is the model #1.

Also, at the new price points, I'd look at the #15 Randall it copies or see if I could get someone like https://flatrockforge.com/ to make something similar.

Never heard of flat rock forge before this, but I like the way they look, especially that woodsman, its tempting.
