Hello,i am planing to maybe get Blackjack Randall clone, made by bark river knives, and am wondering how do these knives cut?I have 2 bark river knives and theyre so so,one came with uneven grinds,i wasnt impressed at all.Have to order online so quality is hit and miss i guess. Are these thick behind the edge, and do they have to be thinned out on stone to cut better?thanx

Hi, I would recommend Blackjack. I have 2 Blackjack knives and they are excellent. I have a model 1-7 and a model 125 Heavy hunter. I just used the 125 on a deer recently, and it was just as good on this deer as all the other deer I've skinned with it. They are some of the sharpest knives I've ever used, and they hold a great edge (and they're tough). Mine are just a touch thick maybe if you want an ultimate slicer, but mine are heavy duty outdoors knives so I prefer a thicker blade. I have had more luck with Blackjacks fit and finish than with Bark river (though the Bark Rivers have been great too mostly), but I only have 2 Blackjacks, so not a big sample size lol. I've never had to thin them out or anything, they cut very well, they're like huge razors lol. The grinds are even, blades finished well and razor edges from the box. I've been using them for years, and they always perform.
I honestly think that they're better than the Randall's. There's no 5 year wait, you get better steel, they're a lot cheaper and I like the convex grind. Plus they have a great warranty and customer service. They are awesome, they just don't have "Randall" on the blade, so they're actually attainable by mere mortals lol.
Overall, I really like Bark River/Blackjack knives. I think you'd be well served by one. Good luck! :)
