Does anyone know anything about BlackJack knife company? Are they any good? Seems like good quality steel, most being A2, good designs. Made in America, that's what I like to see. I looking at buying one, wanted to know a little more info on them, good, bad, ect. Gimme some help.

Blackjack knives is currently owned by Blue Ridge Knives (Marion VA, I believe). Bark River makes the Blackjack classic line and they are consistant with the overall quality of Bark River (BRKT) stuff and US made. The new Companion bushcraft knife looks like a winner to me too and made by BRKT. A2 is very good steel. Full tang construction. I have the 125 and 1-7 models. I really like the 125 simply because it is a size that works for me.

Some people refer to the Blackjack Classic line as poor man's Randall's.

Added: The modern folders are imported. I believe Chinese made. You can usually tell by the price and the steel.

I really like the 125. Mine is nothing special.... natural canvas micarta. I have considered it to be a prime candidate if I ever had to choose only one knife and head for the woods. Bark River does a really nice job on these.

I will concur that the BJ 125 (i have green micarta) is the best knife I currently own. Had no reason to buy it other than being a knife hog! I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever. It has now become my primary hunting knife as I always carry two backups, but as of late have not had to pull them out. I bought in Jan. this year and have cleaned 3 hogs and 3 deer so far this year. It held it's edge through each animal and did not require honing until I was completely done. Awesome blade I would recommend every time if you can afford or desire to spend the money. The fact it's made by BR is an added bonus and the dimple on the blade is not any concern as has been covered by many people on YouTube. Highly recommend.
