Can any of you guys tell me much about Blackjack Knives? I bought a Number 5 today at a flea market without knowing much about it. What I can find on the internet it looks like I got a steal at the princely sum of $19. The guy I bought it from said he cut a birthday cake with it and put it in the sheath without cleaning it. So it has developed a ragged looking patina, and who knows what the inside of the sheath looks like. I'll have to try to clean that out as best I can. Thanks for any help you cn give me.

Put a knife caked with cake in the sheath without cleaning it!? What a schlub.

Bargain! I remember someone else picked up a Halo (I think) at a garage sale or something, for just a few bucks. New ones cost an arm and a leg here, and we just don't see old ones. How about a pic of your new knife?

Thanks for the quick replies. JB, I'm not set up to post pictures or I surely would. When I picked this up at first I didn't know if I was looking at a cheap knockoff of a Randall, or exactly what the guy had. It was crusted with crap, and as soon as I picked it up he said "$20". I happened to have $19 in my pocket, and he took it. I'd have given him the $20, but he was happy. It wasn't until I got it home that I saw what it was and started doing some research. And asking on here, of course. Best knife deal I've ever got, without a doubt. Even better than the 5 NIB USA Schrades (160OT, 97OT, 6OT, and 2 507SC) I picked up just outside OKC for $20 each or the NIB 152OT I picked up here at the Sportsman's Club gun show a couple years back. Somebody will probably score a bunch of stuff at a yard sale after I die off, much the same way as I seem to have been doing.

Congratulations :) Everybody loves a bargain, and it sounds like you got a great knife

If it's real, you got a heck of a deal. I've seen more fake Blackjack knives than real ones.

Any way I can tell if what I have here is real or a fake? I'd like to know, if there's a way to determine if this is real.

We would all love to see the knife! You have a gold membership, I don't see why you can't post any pictures?

Personally I like Blackjack knives and yes they are Randall imitations, but certainly not cheap. Have a number of them. Some people don't like the choils. The 125 used to be my favorite woods knife.

(Edit: fixed typo)

I have made several of my custom sheaths for Blackjack knives. They seem like pretty darn good knives.

Ernie, the reason I can't is because I'm not set up with any image hosting site. If it was as simple as moving pictures from my computer to this thread I'd go ahead and do that. But, since I don't have an image host no pictures. Sorry. After cleaning the knife it has some scratches on the blade, and a small chip on the edge that I'll have to sharpen out eventually. Looks like cake boy was chopping something with it. Anyway, thanks for the replies, guys.

If you go to the "Upload a File" button at the bottom right, you can insert a photo from your computer-- don't need a hosting site.

Here's a few pictures I managed to get uploaded. Thanks to black mamba for the tip. I couldn't see the scratches with the cake stuck all over this thing, but at least it won't be a safe queen. It's definitely in user status. There is a small chip in the edge I'll have to sharpen out eventually. What do you guys think? Did I get a deal here? I'm pretty happy with it.

That's one you'll never hesitate to use. So, that's a good thing!

et10, ya know.... I'm going to upgrade my membership again to Gold for the picture insert capability. I let my Gold expire and at the time got it primarily for posting in political after getting dinged a couple times by the mods over slightly political posts in current events. Then I decided that "political" was not for me.

I believe the same gentleman that makes Bark River Knives, Made the Black Jack Knives, but I'm no knife historian.

Some don't consider him a gentleman. I mostly ignore the comments about Mr. Stewart and focus on the knives he makes versus the personality. But yes, Bark River makes the Blackjack knives under contract.
