I finally got a chance to take some pictures. This is the first slip-joint I have done in blacklip pearl. It is a thin and sleek piece with very clean lines.
The blade is 3-5/16 in long made of Jerry Rados ladder pattern damascus. The bar I cut it from has a really tight pattern. The front and rear bolsters are 416 stainless and are polished. I am very tempted to have this knife engraved. The scales are blacklip pearl with lots of great color. Fileworked backbar and irriscident anodized titanium liners. I fileworked the screw heads on the scales and all the other screws have been hidden for a nice clean look. The whole knife is screw together construction. Great walk and talk with a half stop. The spring sits in the same position (flush) in all 3 positons of the knife's operation. Overall length is 7-3/8 inches.

Thanks for looking,
Chuck

Another beauty. It is hard to get a photo of blacklip MOP that does a good job of showing the vibrant colours. You seem to have done a good job of it.

It is really a fine piece of work, I would be proud to have it in my collection, you said you were thinking of having some engraving done. It might help, but why take a chance, it is already a beaut.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

That is pretty much what they had in mind when they said "let well enough alone".

Sweet knife.

Absolutely beautiful Chuck. :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Perhaps if makers didn't take a chance or left "well enough alone" custom knives would not have evolved to where they are today. Just perhaps. ;):)

It was not my intent to stifle innovation or stop a good work in progress, it is a good looking piece as is: But with some engraving it really might pop a lot more eyes out. I am not that good with my hands and can only imagine disaster if I touched it. So, I guess I was thinking of what I would do.:foot:

It's definitely a fine line between adding an embellishment that takes a knife to the next level and really makes it "POP" and over embellishing and taking away from the overall appearance.

Many tough decisions that knife makers are faced with in producing beautiful knives that will sell.

Thanks Guys,
I am planning on building more sliipies, they are a different type of challenge compared to linerlocks.

I think I will leave it up to the purchaser of this piece to decide on the engraving. I think that if I sent it out, it would add to the knife but then I am also targeting collectors who like engraving.

Regards,
Chuck
