I wonder what others think of this knife.... Just bought one from that auction site, and damn id it isn't junk... Contrary to sales numbers, i can't see why this is popular

When i got my first blackout it was a bit disappointing, only one carry option for the clip, One sided thumb stud, cheapy feeling handle... but i started to use it a bit more, found that the knife is very lightweight, super ergonomic, Good blade shape and has a tacticool feel to it. I guess its one of those knives that the more you use the more you love.

I have had one that I beleive is an early edition Ken Onion 1550 going on what seems 10 years now. I think it was one of if not the first production assisted openers on the market. I never carried it, just put it in my collection. I am checking it out right now and in no way do I think it is an inferior knife. Crazy sharp and smooth operating.

I like my Blackout, but maybe I'm weird. Whats not to like? What K0W said. I can't describe mine as junk. Maybe its the light weight and plasticky scales, but I like the feel, the look, the blade shape, nice ergos, and speedy assisted deployment. I like that big, long clip too. Maybe give it a chance for a while. You can always unload it if you don't warm to it.

It does open with authority, and sharpened well, to a fault almost. It just feels cheap and mine will not come apart.... I think the retainer for the nut is stripped. Regardless, I'm not impressed. I would carry a leek over this any day of the week

Well its all relative... Its an old design thats been around. As time passes things change.

My Blackout was the first kershaw i bought, and this was before i eally cared about knives. That knife has taken a punishing for the past year and a half and it has with stood all i can through at it, I wish the price was a little lower but i love it

I do not like them at all. I never liked the look, or the feel. They seem junky to me, but I know people who love them. It just comes down to taste I guess.

I got a first edition bought for 35.00 it was a safe knife never used..I like it but it does feel cheap but its a long lasting made knife so it must of sold well.Oh i didn't know it was first edition when i bought it.But its patent pending and no year stamp on it

I really don't think they are junk. It was a precursor to what kershaw has out there today. If it was not for it, you wouldn't have what you do today. Perhaps a different adjective is needed. Look at how anything changes over a decade or so, not to mention your own tastes.

I dunno, my first knife was a leek and that hasn't changed as my favorite knife. I'm just not impressed with it, its light and not quality feeling at all. Maybe I'm just crazy

It make feel cheap but I carried one of mine edc for a year long deployment and had no issues with it. In fact, I probably have abused that knife far more than any others I own short of a fixed blade.

You are allowed to have your own opinion :) I personally do not like it myself but, I would never call anything made by kershaw junk... the numbers definitely do not agree with you ;)

I brought my brother a blackout because he saw it and liked it. I too was not impressed with the handle. Not only did hid feel cheap, but it was compressible. He damaged the tip on it, so I bought him a R.A.M. I know I love the R.A.M. so hopefully he will too. He mentioned that he may carry the Blackout for work (where he damaged the tip), and keep the R.A.M. for everywhere else. He does like Kershaw overall, so I would say in general he liked the Blackout, and he also mentioned liking the long clip and noticed the R.A.M.'s clip not to his liking.

Honestly this is the first kershaw i haven't liked, i collect them and swear by them. Hell i got two buddies into them too and would gladly recommend a kershaw to anyone, just not the blackout... I guess its not junk, its just not what i have to come expect from my beloved kershaw
