greetings all,
just wanted to post my opinion on the blackout. does anybody out there like it as much as me? been using it for over 3 years and still liking it. no hard abuse, just a good edc. anyway, would like to hear from you folks on your opinion of this kinda forgotten favorite. best regards to all.

I actually bought two of them, one P/E and one S/E when they first came out. They are both still going strong and have seen some heavy use.Fast, strong, light weight and sharp as a razor. Great EDC knife!

Picked one up a little while back, but haven't really used it much. It is a nice, lightweight, comfortable-handling knife. I remember reading (can't recall where at the moment) that the Blackout was Kershaw's best selling model (at least at one point). Not sure if it is true, but it did get me curious about it.

The Blackout has been around a long time.I was carrying the S/E Blackout one day many years ago when a 12 hundred pound horse got tangled up in a rope and went totally berserk.Cut him free just in time.

I'm sure It's not now. Most likely the Leek.

The blackout was my first kershaw about 3 and a half years ago, i still carry it every now and then, used it the other day, to cut a hole out of a sheet metal wall using it and a hammer, held up fine and it probably shouldn't have lol

I actually just got one recently. The serrated model. I couldn't believe how light this thing was when I opened the box! The blade is sharp as hell and the Speedsafe works great, as always. So far the DLC on the blade is holding up well, I've only cut a few things with it. I really need to take this thing to work and wreak havoc on some shipping boxes!

The Blackout was Blade magazine's 1999 "best buy of the year" at least a few editors liked it enough enough to give it the award. It's a nice knife if you like all black, the whirlwind is more my style with the polished blade. The handle is one of the most ergonomic I've ever held although my initial impression is that it's a bit slippery and the plastic handle feels a little flimsy. These observations turned me off owning one, but I don't know if that opinion would go away once the knife is put to work, for $50 you could certainly do worse. The fastener at the rear of the handle is a weird tamper proof design that requires a custom made tool to remove, a screw driver might work, but you're most likely going to gouge up the handle and fastener before the loctite breaks free, if you're one who likes to completely disassemble your knives for cleaning this may be a deal breaker.
