Looks really good, Sam. I like the twists in the spine and the rat tail wrapped over the spine is a really nice touch.

I like it Sam! IMHO you might want to give it a soak in vinegar overnight and pop off the larger scale on the blade. You the get beauty of brut de forge that way, but without little bits of stuff that might flake off in the future.

love it. Mostly the tail folding over the top, that's not something I've seen before and really gives it a unique flavor. The waves are neat too. While I'm on a roll here. I like that you didn't overdo the twists. I think a little looks nice, a lot just looks like the smith was practicing and if they're not all at least very similar it looks like he NEEDS that practice. Obviously over the course of a knife it would be very tough to keep a bunch of twists the same, but that's the impression it gives when things vary too much. In this case you kept all the style and charm of the traditional blacksmith's knife with a touch of art and style added in.

I agree with everyone else. Really nice blacksmith knife with a
cute and creative tail. Good thinking Sam!

Thanks guys! Deker and Matt, I am doing both of those things.

I have a top secret project in the works, possible collaboration with another smith of high renown, more on that very soon.

Remy thank you, I agree 100%.

Very cool. I've forged quite a few of those, of course not exactly like yours, but even a few with the tail wrapped over. I like the overall impression and size of this one for sure. Good stuff.

Sam,
You know I love you Buddy, but I don't know if you fell of your bike and hit your head or what.

The tang came out so warped and twisted that all you could do with it was bend it back and leave it as it is. I don't think you will ever get a handle on it.
Then, man, I don't want to say bad things about your hammer control,....but, those divots near the spine, left by one of those half-finished hammers of yours, are never going to grind out.

I would suggest you just leave it as is and try to sell it at a Ren-fest or a flea market. One other possibility would be to put it on ebay as an "Antique Knife".

Anyway, keep away from that corn liquor when in the forge and I doubt this problem will crop up again.

Take care Bro.

Very nice Sam... I don't care what Stacy says... :D I'm sure you can still use duct tape for the handle... :p Man it is fun to see your work and just as fun to see people bust your balls just for fun. Keep up the great work Sam!

LOL Stacy, thanks....I guess :D

Eric thanks! You think this is ball bustin you should come to the hammer in LOL

Salem you got any pictures? I love this style and like seeing how everyone does it different.
