"Blackwashing" a blade?

I don't care for Kershaw's low end knives but I do like the look if their "black washed" blades. Anyone know what type of finish the start with? Anyone tried replicating this finish?

I'm pretty sure it's an acid etch followed by a stone wash.

The ones I'm familiar with are "DLC Blackwash," which is definitely not an acid etch. DLC is "Diamond-Like Carbon" - one of the toughest finishes there is. They must be doing some sort of abrasive tumble on the DLC coated blade I'd guess. The few DLC blades I've had, when I thought the coating was scuffed off it was actually just metal being rubbed off of other things in my pockets and deposited on the coating. A quick rub with fine Scotch-Brite and they look brand new again.

I'm not totally sure that kershaw's blackwash is the process I described. I saw a guy on YouTube do a DIY blackwash once and the results seemed pretty similar to Kershaws. Thanks for the info!
