Ive been on the fence with this knife! Beautiful but maybe too small? I dont have a nice small gents knife so maybe I should pull the trigger? Is it even scary sharp?? I saw the video on youtube and he says it comes dull?? Is it true? a $438 knife is dull?? True or false? Help! Should I buy it?

It's a nice knife made by a great company. Sure once in awhile a brand new knife can come from the factory dull because it's sharpened by people, one day they care the next they don't. Don't worry about it coming sharp because if you are going to use it, it's going to become dull anyways, although I do prefer it to come razor sharp as well. If you do want it, act quick, I think its a limited run only, it's basically a Lionsteel Tispine, but decked out in a stealthy black. Also checkout knifework's front page, better deal!

Look up reviews on the TiSpine. They're the same knife. I'm not sure if they'd be considered "small gent's knives," but small's a relative term, I suppose.

... also, whoever paid $438, paid too much.

BlackWater website has them listed for that much. Only ones Ive found so far.

A regular google search turned up a few dealers with significantly lower price which are available, not sure if the are sponsors so I won't list them. Saw price nearer $330 for it.

I've seen them for around $330 as well. I'm guessing PVD coating is cheaper than the anodizing on the regular version.

Thanks for the plug in! I got it!

Found one for around that price! thanks guys!:)

it was $350 on the homepage it suddenly shot up to $437 in the past week, no idea why? I've been eyeing that knife too, but I'm holding out just in case the 0801cf might pop up.

I can't speak for the Aculus, but my TiSpine is the sexiest knife I own. The only problem with TiSpines is that the action takes a long time to break in. Whether the Aculus is easier to open is unknown to me. If it isn't and you've got a nice, strong thumb or you don't mind opening your knives two-handed, you should still be good to go. And I never worry about whether a knife is going to arrive dull. That's what sharpeners are made for. ;)

What site are you talking about? Knifeworks has it for $340, same as always.

They do have an Elmax blade HRC 61 compared to the TiSpine @ 59-60. The blade steel is the heart. I got #12 for 300.00:cool:

My Blackwater Aculus (Serial# 50) was very smooth to open from day one unlike my TiSpine. They are both very sharp in looks and the blade.

Any idea why the Aculus is easier to open than your TiSpine, Ram?

No idea. Luck of the draw.

The TiSpine was painfully tight for quite a while and initially I had to use a pinching thumb + index finger to open it!

Not so with the Aculus. It was smooth from day one.

That's crazy. If you ever figure it out, let me know. In the meantime, congrats on acquiring an Aculus! :D

Thanks dude. Love the 050 S/N per request.

No doubt.

Amazingly it's also probably the strongest Gentleman's Folder ever built with a solid block of titanium as the frame.

A 3" blade version would do wonders! However, LionSteel of Italy has way too many projects on its plate. Italian manufacturing quality at its best.
