Hey all!

I was going to put the pictures at the top but then I realized that you would never look at the text :) I just got this today thanks to Mr. Neil Blackwood. I like the shapened swedge and the thin scales. It's a nice, light and very comfortable blade. For those of you who don't have a Blackwood knife I hear he has some medium hunters in D2 that he'll be finishing soon. BTW, this on is in S30V and Neil's website is http://www.blackwoodknives.com

New comparison pictures with a Busse Satin Jack (ZT no less). This Melee is thin, light, fast and can be carried anywhere on your person.

Regards,
Jeff

I keeping begging to find out the name of that handle Material. I am saving every penny for Atlanta and I sure hope Neil hjas one of those laying on his table for a second or less..........GORGEOUS!!!!!

Jeff,
I'm glad you like it. With the tapered tang, this one is the slimest, lightest one yet. Several of my local customers that have Melee's in process saw this one and said "make mine JUST like that one" :) With the IWB loop it really carries nice in the flat Kydex sheath.

Wolfmann,

I hate to say this but I'm not doing the Blade Show :( After what happened last year with working around my wife's schedule, I don't DARE reserve a table at any show!! Next year things will smooth out and hopefully I'll be able to actually DO a show!! I plan on being there though and MIGHT have one stuck inside my waistband ;) I'll keep one on the backburner for you!!

Neil

jyen, Great looking blade. Very nice pictures.
The Melee will be my next fixed blade Blackwood knife.

Very nice!!

Hey Neil-
I notice the "Blackwood" font is different on some knives....whats the story? :D

Keith,

Everytime I find a new COOOOL looking font on the internet, I grab it for logos!! Jeff's is a gothic font with the crosses in the O's. I also have another new one that has a japanese look to it for my Ninja series knives :) I'll post a pic here tomorrow of that. I had been changing them every year, now I can print my own artwork so anything is possible. Just trying to keep things interesting :)

Oh, also my logo's are not acid etched, they are sandblasted in. That's why they change color from black to gray depending how the light hits them.

Neil

Awesome looking profile on that piece.., thanks for the pictures.., and a great job on the knife Neil...

"Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]"

....and Blackwood RULES the Gallery!!!!

Always a pleasure. Good score, Jeff.

At least Neil uses punctuation and breathes between sentences! :p

I want to see BLACKWOOD in the 'kidnapped' font.... Try that!!!

Coop

If you want one that feels great in the hand -- Blackwood is the way to go. I am still loving my Small Tac. Melee looks great though.

Nice work Neil! All joking and BS aside, and whereas we 'do' collect Randall's, Al Mar's, Horn's, and Applegate/Fairbairn's...my tastes are 'evolving'...

I've come to believe that Ken Onion's handmade's are the direction that I'm going for folder's, and if you'll allow me...

I'd like to send some business your way for a fixed blade or three.

I'm thinking a 'narrow' Melee for starters...similar knife, in 1.00" to 1.125" wide. What's that one, 1.500" in the belly?

Jesus, outstanding work Neil! Sweeet! :D

Mel

Mel,
This one is made from 1.5 wide stock so one like you mentioned isn't TOO far off. The grind lines might run into each other resulting a slightly different look though. I'm already grinding these on a 5" contact wheel but something can be worked out.

Coop,
Believe it or not, I have the Kidnap font but like many of them, cannot be reduced down to knife logo size!!

Here is another Melee I made along with Jeffs, it's headed to Germany right now!! This is a font from a "famous TV space show" ;)

Yup, unless Neil is totally out of his gourd and told me the wrong thing it is G10 :) I can't get over how thin this knife is, the perfect concealment blade! Hehe, I am already on this list for a D2 Medium Hunter and maybe after that I can talk Neil into a Grifter out of Stellite.

On a totally different note, I've noticed that Neil isn't posting knives forsale in the maker's forum anymore. I am sure it is because word is out and there aren't extras anymore, which is a good thing but I hope that doesn't take away from time to think up new stuff. With the way I keep throwing ideas at him I am sure it isn't an issue. And don't forget that he's got his folder in the works!

Keep up the good work Neil!

Just Amazing...

Breathless; speechless; wishing for a bigger "Knife Fund."

Very nice handle shape, the curvature on the blade looks to promote very high slicing ability. I am not one for aesthetics generally, but the red on the handle is quite striking,
