I think of a name for this thing eventually.
I spent more time trying to photograph the hamon than I did making it!! Rather than my normal etched and highly exposed hamon, this is fully rubbed out from a nicely done etch and quite impressive in real life.
Sorry I couldn't bring that to you.
Make believe!
Some really nice figure in this high quality African Blackwood. I deeply etched the 1903 wrought guard.
There's little lacking in this Bowie, and she's ready for the trip to Ohio next week.

Love the blade and handle shapes, Karl. (If you look closely, the hamon can be seen in the very top photo. I'll bet it is beautiful in person.)

Karl, that's looking pretty good. I know what you mean about getting a hamon to photograph. I think John is seeing things myself. :D

That's a really good looking bowie Karl - you are going to have one impressive table for that show.

Damn Karl, you and Stuart need to slow down and take a breath, you guys are spitting those beauties out like watermelon seeds. It looks like a real handful and ready for business, very nice.

Very nice Karl love the shape of this one and hamon, also like how well the guard etched out.

What did you use to etch the guard and how long?

Mike, the "secret" to a nicely divulged wrought iron etch is to take it to a completely finished out piece first. I take mine to 2000 before etch.
